YMCA Moolachel is Affiliated to National Council of YMCA of India, Bharat Yuvak Bhavan, New Delhi. YMCA Moolachel is Registered on 9th April 1986 with Reg. No. 18/86 with a vision of uplifting the socio economic conditions of the under privileged sections of the community in Thuckalay, Thiruvattar & Kurunthancode Blocks, irrespective of caste creed & religious difference.
In 1986, we set out to register our institution under the societies Registration Act. We started our first step towards a sustainable venture in 1988 with "YMCA Rehabilitation Centre for Women" (RCW) an Embroidery unit with the object of providing regular work to unemployed women.
We have obtained Export License for selling our products. We have registered our unit with District Industries Centre Nagercoil. We have formed 166 self Help Groups and help the poor women & Youths by getting all facilities from Government & Banks.

Rehabilitation Centre for Women (RCW):
The YMCA Rehabilitation Centre for Women (RCW) was started in 1988 with the object of providing regular work to unemployed women. We are giving free training to willing women (including widows & disabled) in different types of Embroidery works such as Cross Stitch, Cut Work, Punch Works, Embroidery, Smock Work, Drawn Thread Works & Lace Work.
After they acquire sufficient required training, we observe them in our unit, as Artisian. Thus we have given free training to more than 250 women through our unit & they are working regularly at our YMCA RCW.
Through our earnest efforts and with the help of Mahalir Thittam Office, Nagercoil & National Minorities Development Corporation, New Delhi, NABARD Chennai we have established marketing linkages with the State owned & C.C.I.C. New Delhi, V.T.I. Chennai & Private Firms at Kodaikanal & Ooty for our products. Our unit has been registered as a Small Scale Industry (SSI) with the Government.
